I am thrilled to be on the tour for this lovely read.
Munching through the plot: By losing weight they gained each other.
From debut author J Taylor comes a hilarious, heartfelt story about friendship, self-acceptance and discovering how on earth one goes about losing an awful lot of weight... Etta Wilson has vowed to make a change. At five foot three and a size twenty, she’s had enough. Honestly, this has absolutely nothing to do with seeing her ex, Robert Ward, strolling around town, smitten with a new slim girlfriend.
So, Etta’s chucked the calorific cakes, thrown the takeaway in the bin and committed to cardio. She’s got nothing to lose - well apart from a lot of weight - but how hard can that be?
Nearly impossible, it turns out. Etta soon realises she can’t do this alone. Thanks to her colleagues at the Elm Lodge Care Home, she won't have to. With their help, will Etta reach her goals? Or does a moment on the lips really mean a lifetime on the hips?
Bobs and Books honest review:
As someone who has been plus size herself, I knew this book would be relatable. Hats off to the author for being brave enough to feature plus size characters in a positive and accurate way and make them empowered. Some of those very early scenes are very familiar and yet I've never heard another person discuss it out loud or put in a book, Yes!
I had a little titter to myself on the very first page and this didn't let up. Some comic gold moments and a joy to read. Did get some Elinor Oliphant vibes about it but less in the sad way more in the quirky and misunderstood sense.
This really celebrates female empowerment and friendship which I think is fantastic. The girl friendship group with their various suspicious partners makes for fab reading. They all support each other through the various wobbles (metaphorically and physically) and I love this.
Super fun, some absolutely perfect LOL moments and a group a gals I want to work with and befriend immediately.
Sequel please!
