Its my spot on the blog tour for such a powerful book, Animal.
De-tangling the plot:
I thought about killing myself, but I wanted to meet you first.
I am depraved.
I hope you like me.
MEET JOAN.
Bobs and Books honest review:
Its taken me a long time to write this blog after finishing the book as I was completely speechless. I think I am finally in a position to explain how I feel about this shocking, raw, powerful read.
Firstly. That start. WOW. Edge of your seat, breath taking, hooks you in from the very first line.
There are many other shocking moments throughout this read that I won't spoil, but that very start sets the tone and doesn't lose its momentum at all.
Also, I found myself with so many questions! I was itching to find out who Alice was, who Joan was speaking to with her story, and what on earth was going to happen next. This is beyond intriguing.
Joan confides in Alice about her relationships, and more secrets unravel. I think this is a rare find to find women speaking so honestly, and every feminist will be enraged, sympathetic, and will feel seen and unusually, heard. Do not underestimate this in particular.
