Detangling the plot:
A killer forces young women to run for their lives
You can't escape him.
He abducts lone joggers and forces them to run for their lives. When he catches them, he pulls out his blade...
Now he's locked away and will be in prison for years. They call him a psychopath, a murderer, the "Woodcutter Killer."
But what if you just found out you're supposed to call him father?
Bobs and Books Honest Review:
If you love true crime, all those crime documentaries on Netflix about serial killers and love a bit of controversy, this is 100% the book for you. Whilst this is fiction, it is so believable, menacing, cunning and shocking you'll believe it every step of the way.
Freya is a glorious female protagonist and at the very start of the book her mum dies and she finds out that her father is the "Woodcutter killer". Trying to piece together her identity, and feeling lost after her mums passing she meets and tries to uncover the truth about her father.
As her story unfolds publicly, she is told by everyone she encounters "you have his eyes". She meets some amazingly eccentric characters along the way who you don't know if you can trust, or what their motives are. Freya is feisty, gutsy and not afraid to ask some inquisitive questions, particularly to her father.
I think I went through a stage where I thought it was all the characters at some stage of the book. I changed my mind numerous times on if they'd caught the right guy. This is such clever writing.
The final showdown is breath-takingly brilliant. It's intriguing to see who makes "the cut" (OK, allow me one woodcutting pun).. It shocks, its hard hitting and it definitely does not disappoint.
