Fringe worthy read: Escape to Pumpkin Cottage, Anna & Jacqui Burns

Its great to be sharing my thoughts on this read. Thanks to Allison and Busby for my gifted copy.

What's it about?

Pippa Mason is ready for a fresh start. She has bought Pumpkin Cottage in the picturesque Wye Valley village of Riverdean, where her late mother grew up, and plans to renovate a run-down bed and breakfast. Despite the complications of the project and a very surly builder, Pippa is settling into village life and starting to fall for the charms of local Jake when problems start coming thick and fast ... Jenny Foster has enough on her plate running Riverside Lodge as well as managing her husband Phil's diagnosis of early-onset dementia. She didn't need the threat of another B&B on her doorstep. When the spat between them escalates and an autumn storm brings matters to a head, Pippa and Jenny will have to see if Riverdean is big enough for the both of them.

Bobs and Books honest review:

Well its fair to say that I absolutely adored this. Pippa was a strong, brave female who moves to a new place alone and tries to get her B&B thriving. I love how bold she is, and how she overcomes village challenges- of which there seems to be plenty.

So much fun and perfect for a cosy night in, even more so in this stormy weather. I was hooked within the first few pages and soon couldn't put it down. Great characters, and good to see a subject like dementia raised in a book like this too.

Fun, heart warming, surprising and a lovely autumnal read.

Out today.
