Blog Tour, A Match To Remember: Helen Hawkins

Thanks to Allison & Busby for my gifted copy of this read.

Scoring the plot:

Lizzie Morris is ready for the first day of the rest of her life - she's starting as a trainee teacher at Cranswell Primary and she's hopeful that she'll make the squad for the final of her team's football tournament. Finally, Lizzie seems to be putting her tragic past behind her and she is sure that her parents would be proud.

Coming face to face with Noah Hatton, however, was not part of the plan. He is still as athletic and handsome as she remembered and seeing him drags up painful memories. Horrifyingly, the Head Teacher then asks the pair of them to organise the school's Sports Day and thrown together, their chemistry and competitive relationship reignites. Will the unwelcome distraction of Noah derail Lizzie's teacher training and will she survive this blast from the past?

Bobs and Books honest review:

This was an absolute joy from start to finish. As a female football fan, seeing this got me so excited and it did not disappoint. From cup matches to training, it was great to see women on the pitch and thriving.

I liked the school element too- fun to see it from a trainer teacher lens. And the ensemble of smaller characters added to my enjoyment.

But.. Noah and Lizzie, Lizzie and Noah. Wow.

As a non competitive person in life, I have to admit I found it amusing how competitive they were with each other, but that didn't bother me. Their kindness, their fun, the way they were around each other just bounced off the page.

This book does tackle some sensitive subjects and they were well handled.

Sequel, please!
