Blog Tour: Stand Up Guy, Nina Kaye

I am thrilled to be on the blog tour for this brilliant read.

Detangling the plot:

Dumped by Instagram post. Not a whiff of a social life. Can it get any worse?

After a string of failed relationships - romantic and platonic - Lea’s had enough of watching life happen without her. When she bumps into Shep, a comedian at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in need of accommodation, it feels like destiny. And voilá – Lea now has a lodger and some company.

The two get on like a flat on fire, and Lea can’t resist falling for outgoing Shep. But she knows it’s a mistake that will cost her heart – he’s just another guy passing through, after all. And with Shep’s stand-up routine edging him closer to his big break, there’s no way he’ll stick around.

Love is no laughing matter as the Fringe draws to a close. Can Lea find the confidence to step up and confess her feelings to Shep? Will he want to stay?

A feel-good, heart warming romance for anyone desperate to break out of their shell and find their true self.

Bobs and Books honest review:

This is THE best romantic comedy I've read for a really long time.

The Edinburgh backdrop just adds to all the feels, and I love how brave this author has been creating a stand up comedian. Its fair to say with Shep and his constant crises that I couldn't help but laugh out loud at his misfortunes and definitely felt the second hand embarrassment a couple of times.

The theme of loneliness in adults is also prominent here and highlights it so well. As a thirty something childfree woman who lives alone, and moved away from hometown, I felt Lea's angst at not having female friends or friends that have families. This is an important topic and was handled so brilliantly in this read.

I had to adore Lea, good heart, hard worker, sees the best in people, and doesn't always get a fair treatment back. A great female lead and I was immediately rooting for her all the way.

Then of course, there's the romance. Shep doesn't give us the best first impression but soon makes up for it in so many ways. Their chemistry, and his back story soon got me on side and I liked seeing his caring nature come through.

All of the perfect components for the best romcom. No heckling from me, just applause and request for an encore.
