Books-On-Tour: Briefly Yours, Cat English

I am delighted to be on the Lit PR tour for this read.

De-briefing the plot:

The Intimate Adventures of a London Call Girl by Belle De Jour meets A Street Cat Named Bob by James Bowen meets Fifty Shades of Grey.

The girl next door reveals her dark secrets of the path she walked down by selling her soul to the devil to help the needy.

What happens if you need to earn serious money to fund your sister through law school and save the hundreds of feral and stray cats in your area? For Cat English, the answer was to work as a call-girl - and be incredibly good at her job.

Briefly Yours is a real-life erotic memoir about the realities behind being the breadwinner in your family, the 'crazy cat lady,' and getting to the top of your game. Returning to the 'real world' with a job in retail was never going to be easy.

With steamy sex scenes, peculiar punters, feisty farmers and cute cats... Briefly Yours is an explosive behind-the-scenes account of Cat English's life: by day as a sexy call-girl and by night as a cat rescuer!

Bobs and Books honest review:

WOAH this is not for the faint hearted!!!

Getting paid for sex by day, and caring for feral cats by night, Cat is full of surprises!

Some graphic and shocking scenes so if you don't want to read some naughty sex scenes, don't pick this up. If you are intrigued, buckle yourself in! These stories are eyebrow raising.

The book does flit at slightly odd times between both topics which did take a while for me to get into the rhythm of it. Once I did, however there were no issues.

The feral cat work is endearing and shows a softer side, but at times is upsetting. The lovely messages she receives are adorable.

Saucy, surprising, sassy.

About the author:

Cat English grew up on a council estate in Greater Manchester and isn’t ashamed of where she came from. It made her who she is today. A voice for the animals, the wilder the better. She now lives in the West Pennines with her man (and her forty-something rescued feral cats who think it’s playtime when the lights go out). She will hold the door open for royalty and will keep that door held open for the homeless person walking behind them. Cat carried out her work experience in Waterstones bookshop where she openly admits she was drawn to the Karma Sutra section–it was no surprise then that she swapped her retail management shoes for stilettos as a high-class call girl on her path to becoming the 'Mother Teresa of cats'.
